  Verrill's Trial Admin Application
Posted by: verrill - 03-01-2017, 04:48 PM - Forum: Trial Admin Application - No Replies

Byond Account: Verrill

Character Name(s): Random name usually

Discord Name: BigBoss (verrill#5927)

Age: 23

Timezone: Pacific Standard Time

Active hours: I'm available all day. I usually play in the evenings or mornings.

How long have you played SS13?: About a year

Do you have any experience as an administrator for SS13? No, but I have admin'd on several TTT servers which is a pretty similar type of administrative process. (Checking damage logs, checking intent on why people attack each other, ghost following potential repeat offenders, etc.)

Tell us why you think you'd make a good administrator on this server: I understand that rules are there to create an environment to have fun. It's important to enforce them, but also to let people enjoy themselves and not create a police state vibe.

Active hours: A lot. I can't tell you exactly, it can go in and out.
How long have you played SS13? 3 years.
Do you have any experience as an administrator for SS13? Trial-admin on hippie for some time ( not anymore ), and was admin on a server called Sandbox Station, of which is gone now. It was the only server that ever used sandbox mode on /tg/
Tell us why you think you'd make a good administrator on this server: I think I would make a good administrator for FulpStation because I can be very active and competent, I can get the job done. This server doesn't appear to have many admins. I can probably be active for hours on end on the server with no other admins and be fine, there is not many admins online usually. I want to help make the server's community better by answering questions and getting rid of trolls and other offenders.

Active hours: Can't provide a specific number, but I have a good amount of free time.
How long have you played SS13?: About 3 years now.
Do you have any experience as an administrator for SS13?: I have played the role of mentor for a server and I was trialadminned on a much smaller, long dead server for a brief period of time
Tell us why you think you'd make a good administrator on this server: I've been playing this game for three years now and I know this code very well. I like to think I'm fair-minded when a situation presents itself to me or when I'm forced to deal with a player who isn't following the rules.

  New admins when?

I don't have a problem with the existing admins, but I've only come on once or twice while admins are actually on.
That's almost asking for grief.

  Ban Appeal Guidelines
Posted by: tomar - 02-09-2017, 10:34 PM - Forum: Ban Appeals - No Replies

We may eventually update this so that threads are auto-generated upon banning.  For now, we will review the nature of the ban with the banning admin and come to a concensus taking into account the appeal stated in your thread.

For now, the following template when appealing a ban:

Your OOC name (byond username):

Approximate Time of Ban (Give your best estimate.  Used for investigation):

State your appeal (Please limit to 500 words.  We will not actually count the words unless your appeal is absurdly long):

  Fulpstation Rules
Posted by: Oney - 02-09-2017, 10:19 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

Disclaimer: A lot of these were copied from Yostation's rules, but some are different so read them all!

Common rules

1: This is a medium role play server. Do not grief other players. If you spawn as an antag, you have permission to kill other players besides your objctive ONLY if they estand in the way of your success. (Eg. Someone just saw you kill your target. Someone is guarding a specific item you need.) Ruining a round for all players (Eg. releasing the Singularity or breaking gravity) will probably get you banned if it has nothing to do with your objectives,

2: When typing out of character (OOC) be friendly. While in character, act however you like within the realm of roleplay. If your character is a dick, by all means be a dick. Don’t expect it to do you any in game favors though. The further you push it, then more than likely you’ll just end up in perma brig. If you push it over the line, expect a fast ban.

3: Erotic roleplay is frowned upon. We won't ban you,but keep in mind you may be playing with children.

4: Do not mix IC (in character) and OOC (out of character) knowledge. Do not post information related to a round in progress in the OOC chat. A person reading the OOC chat should not be able to know what's happening in a round, whether anyone is dead, etc. Do not use information your character would have no way of knowing in game. Please avoid as much as you can using OOC terminology in character, but if it is necessary, use double parentheses ((I am talking out of character, like this!!)).

5: Do not metacommunicate or multikey. Space Station 13 is a game that relies on players having limited information about ongoing events. You are only allowed to participate in a round on this server from a single BYOND account. Do not try to join with a different account to continue playing. If you are playing with a friend with different characters in the same round, only use in-game means of communication to discuss in-game events.

6: Do not spam or advertise. Do not post links without prior approval by an admin. You WILL be IP banned forever.

7: Use proper IC language. We are an English speaking community. Please make sure everything you say IC is more or less understandable to an English speaking player. Using any language other than English will be treated as metacommunications, as our admins cannot translate all languages. Avoid using other languages in OOC conversations. Do not use netspeak, emoticons, or internet memes in vocal IC communication.

8: Listen to admins. If an admin tells you that you shouldn’t be doing something, you shouldn’t be doing it. All cases are subject to admin discretion. If an admin contacts you, you are expected to respond as fast as possible. If you cannot be contacted in a reasonable amount of time, you may be banned to have you explain your part of the story on the forums. Please try to be polite and respectful when speaking with an admin. If you think an admin is not extending the same courtesy to you, you may ask for another admin to take your case, and are encouraged to make an administrator complaint on the forums. Ignoring admin PMs, lying, insulting admins or other players, or showing a general bad attitude may and will be counted against you and could lead to a ban. Do not ask admins to make you a special character, but remember to keep your special role preferences up to date so you are considered as a candidate.

9: Use common sense. If you suspect something might lead to you being banned, it probably is bannable. The rules cannot cover all possible cases. If you are not sure whether something would be considered against the rules, use adminhelp. Keep in mind that different admins can have different opinions on some actions, and sometimes an action can be considered against the rules in some circumstances but not in others. If you were told something was okay once it does not mean you can do it again.

10: Do not start a restart vote, when there is no server-wide issue that cannot be resolved, nor when there are any staff members online. Abusing restart vote for your own gain at cost of others will result in a ban.

In-game rules

1.1: Do not grief. If you are not a round antagonist, do not cause major station damage, create fires or hull breaches, release harmful gasses, spread harmful diseases, severely harm, decapitate, murder people, trap people in places from which they cannot escape or any other action that would be considering agonizing for other players. COMMIT TO YOUR JOB ROLE. As a cyborg with an Asimov lawset, following this rule is mandatory towards non-human players. Even if you are an antagonist, it might be a good idea to adminhelp before doing round-changing actions such as releasing the singularity or exploding a bomb.

1.2: Do not greytide. ie. Do not break windows to space, electrify doors, lube floors, steal important items, attack or rob random people, especially those that are AFK or braindead. Do not vandalize areas or break lights excessively. Do not block public hallways. Do not deconstruct shuttle chairs. Do not disrupt security for your own enjoyment. For antagonists, the murderboning rule applies instead.

1.3: Do not act as an antagonist when not one. If you commit crimes that can result in you receiving capital punishment as non-antagonist, you are breaking this rule. Do not cause excessive chaos as a non-antagonist. Do not act violently when being arrested or removed from an area you are not supposed to be in; using force to defend yourself in cases like that is not considered self-defense. If you are confused about whether you are an antagonist or not, you are not an antagonist. If you act as an antagonist even though you weren’t assigned one, your punishment will range from how much damage you cause. A little fun (slipping people) might get you 2 minutes in the brig, if you are a jerk you might be permabrigged. If you are just completely horrible, you’ll be banned.

1.3.1: Do not act as a greytiding wizard/Deathsquad during wizard gamemode.  If you acquire guns or magical items during a wizard round and you are NOT given any objectives by the game, do not use the given items for killing, griefing and greytiding, as it will result in a ban. This does not apply to people who are given objective of hoarding guns. The murderboning rule still applies if you are given the objective.

1.5: Do not metagame. Your character does not know everything you do. You should not know the nature of traitor items, except those that are obviously dangerous, like bombs or guns. Of course, antagonists are expected to know everything about their abilities and are trained to do any station job, and have been briefed about other enemies of Nanotrasen.
Definition of 'Spotting': Blood runes, arcane tomes, clockwork slabs, clockworks structures, blatant and obvious traitor items, blatant and obvious changeling abilities(transformation, armblades), revolution flashers, revolution flash hijackers, and shadowlings themselves are all valid items/objects/people to spot a certain antagonist. Until an antagonist is spotted, you may not metagame their items or abilities in order to powergame your way through detecting them before they make a mistake.

1.6: Use a realistic name. Your character should have at least a first and a last name. Obscene names or names that are similar in look or pronunciation to obscene phrases are strictly forbidden. Avoid using famous names or names of other fictional characters. Do not include honorifics in your name. Clowns, Mimes and Wizards are somewhat exempt from this rule but are not exempt from obscene names. Phytosians and Unathi are also exempt from a first and a last name, however other restrictions apply. For silicons, see 2.3.3.

1.7: Demonstrate Clone Memory Disorder. If your character returns from the dead via cloning or cyborgization, they should not remember anything related to their death and absolutely nothing they saw after they died. You retain your memories if you are revived by defibrillation or magic. If you get to return to a round as a different character, such as a personal AI, drone, adamantine golem, animal, space ninja, etc., you should not remember anything that happened before you became that new character. On the other hand, if the character had their brain removed while they were alive, as either a humanoid or cyborg, or had their soul taken with a soulstone, they retain all memories of their life.

Role specific rules

2.1.1: Do not murderbone. Do not kill random people for no reason. For individual antagonists (traitors, changelings) murder is allowed if you can justify your actions in even the smallest connection to your objectives, which you must explain in detail if questioned. Nuclear teams, wizards, blobs, traitors with hijack and traitor AIs essentially have an objective to kill everyone and are exempt from most of the rule, however do not spawnkill at Arrivals shuttle or render it uninhabitable even if you are exempt from the rule. Even if you want to cause chaos and panic in order to get the shuttle called or keep the crew busy, avoid killing braindead or AFK players. Security, Head of Staff and people assisting security are free game.

2.1.2: Be active when playing a round-defining antagonist. If you are playing a nuclear operative, wizard, shadowling, cyberman, abductor, revolution or gang leader, or blob, and you need to go AFK or offline, adminhelp to notify admins. If you know you will not be able to stay for a full round, disable the appropriate antagonist preferences.

2.1.3: Be a true revolutionary or gangster. If you become a member of the revolution or a gang, even against your will, follow the orders given by the head revolutionaries or gangsters (marked by a blue R or brown G) and most importantly, do not suicide or ghost during conversion process, even while you are in critical. Do not attack your fellow revolutionaries or gangsters (marked by a red R or light-brown G). Do not kill regular crew members if they can be converted, unless in self-defense or following orders. Try to avoid doing actions that lead to you or your teammates being discovered, captured, deconverted, or killed.

2.1.4: Be a worthy cultist. If you are inducted into a cult, even against your will, pay attention to cult speech you hear. Do not attack fellow cultists (marked by a Cthulhu head or a brown cog). Do not kill normal crew members if they can be converted or sacrificed, unless in self-defense. If you capture a soul, try to install it into a construct as soon as possible. Try to avoid doing actions that lead to you or other cultists being discovered, captured, deconverted, or killed.

2.1.5: As a changeling, do not use your absorb ability unless you need to switch your position with someone while covering your tracks. For your genomes objective, use the DNA extraction sting. Objective kill targets, maroon targets, Security and Heads of Staff are exempt from this rule.

2.1.6: Be a worthy shadowling thrall. If you are slaved by a shadowling, even against your will, pay attention to any shadowling speech you hear. Do not attack fellow thralls(marked with a black face and small red eyes) or your shadowling masters(marked with a black face and slit red eyes). Do not kill normal crew members if they can be converted unless in self-defense. Try to avoid doing actions that lead to you or other thralls/shadowlings being discovered, captured, deconverted, or killed.

2.1.7: Be a good abductor. As Abductor, your job is to kidnap people, experiment on them and return them to the station, not to kill them, cause extreme chaos and be a dick. Therefore do not harm people, unless in self-defense, teleport them down to a place where they have no way out or access. Also, do not loot Armory, steal/destroy AIs or take people's IDs permanently. Your IDs operate same as the Agent IDs, so you can scan abductee's ID to gain the access with your own ID.

2.1.8: Abductees remember their capture when they wake up.

2.2.1: Rules still apply to creatures. If you become a slime, a monkey, or are a victim of a staff of transformation, you keep your antagonist/non-antagonist status. When not antagonist, do not use your new form's abilities to grief. This includes syndicate cyborgs. Do not split as a slime in public places.

2.3.1: Follow Silicon Policy.

2.3.2: If a holoparasite causes human harm, any subsequent damage dealt to the host through the holoparasite should be considered self-harm.

2.3.3: As a cyborg, do not ask for an obscene name and adminhelp if given one.

Heads of Staff

2.4.1: Captain, secure the disk! This is a rule so we can jobban people who do not do it.

2.4.2: Never abandon the station. When playing a command role, do not leave the station z-level without taking permission from the admins first. If no admins are available, use common sense.

2.4.3: Be active when playing a head of staff. If you are playing a command role and you need to go AFK, offline, suicide or leave, adminhelp to notify admins. If you know you will not be able to stay for a full round, disable the appropriate job preferences.

2.4.4: You should have some experience in the jobs your department does, until you play as the head of the department. Do not play as a head of staff if you do not know the basics of every job within your department.

2.4.5: The HoP should not involve himself in security matters, unless he is acting captain or an emergency forces him to. Using the disabler he spawns with for self-defense is fine, but hunting people down and arresting them is not. That’s security’s job.

2.5.1: Follow Space Law and the Standard Operating Procedure. Do not bucklecuff prisoners, except when conducting a search or during evacuation procedures in the Escape Dock Security Room or the Escape Shuttle. Please note that the header of both these pages is to be ignored as they are instructions for the /tg/ community and not ours.

2.5.2: Avoid using lethal force. All security personnel are equipped with stun weapons. Only use lethal weapons when other choices are unavailable.

2.5.3: Armory is for emergencies. Do not take gear from the armory without a serious reason. Do not forget to return the gear after it is no longer needed. Confiscated weapons or items need to be stored in the armory or the evidence lockers, not carried around for personal use.

Following rules only apply to non-antags

Engineering & Atmospherics

3.1.1: Know your job. If you do not know the full correct procedure to setting up the singularity/tesa, do not try to set it up alone. Click me.

3.1.2: Hardsuits are for work. Do not take a hardsuit unless you have work to do that requires it. Avoid wearing hardsuits inside the station when there are no emergencies. Do not leave the department with a hardsuit before the singularity is set up.

3.1.3: Do not abuse telecommunications. Do not deliberately disrupt communications or upload harmful or obscene telecoms scripts.

3.1.4: Do not deliberately disrupt or disable the gravity generator.

3.1.5: Starting Atmospherics setup. Do not disable harmful gas chambers at the start of the round, impend AI's control over Atomspherics by placing manual valves or completely cut off mix to distro. That is considered powergaming, as you have no reason to suspect someone will tamper with Atmospherics at the start of the round.

3.2.1: Bombs can only be used for mining or on the test range. Do not carry bombs out of science without a good reason.

3.2.2: Do not release untame slimes from the xenobiology lab.

3.2.3: Do not activate gold slime extracts outside of secure pens.

3.2.4: Do not create more AI's if there is no obvious need.

3.3.1: Do not create mechs for your personal use. Contact the appropriate department and ask whether a mech is required. If you are unsure whether you can build a mech for personal use in a certain scenario, contact the admins and get permission.

3.3.2: Do not give cyborgs or bots obscene names.

3.3.3: Do not create more AI's if there is no obvious need.

3.4.1: Do not abuse powers. Do not use hulk to break walls without a good cause. Do not use telekinesis to attack people without a good cause.

3.4.2: Do not force genetic changes. Do not give powers of disabilities without the subject's consent. Do not turn people into monkeys unless specifically asked to. Do not distribute harmful injectors.

3.5.1: Do not abuse grenades. Do not trigger harmful grenades in public areas or near other people.

3.5.2: Do not carry around harmful chemicals without a good reason. Do not force or coerce people into consuming chemicals that will harm them or disrupt their round(including harm caused by overdoses and addictions).

3.5.3: Do not misrepresent chemicals being given to people. Do not distribute chemicals with harmful intent. Do not distribute space lube or harmful chemicals. You may distribute drugs as long as they are properly labelled and pills do not contain overdoses.

3.6.1: Do not order armory crates without a good reason.

3.6.2: Do not disable mulebot safeties.

3.7.1: Do not bring gibtonite on station.

3.7.2: Do not bring fauna on the station with harmful intent, unless it has been lazarus injected.

The following rules apply to Lavaland ghost roles and ruin ghost roles:

4.1.1: The specific location of Mining outpost is known only to Ashwalkers. Rest of the roles have little to zero knowledge of the exact location due to their isolation or hybernation within their respective spawning points.

4.1.2: Lavaland roles are not allowed to attack or pose harm to members of the same team. E.g. Luring fauna and megafauna to your companions to kill them off... Exception are the prisoners, who work each on their own accord.

4.2.1: Ashwalkers have no murderbone restrictions, but must return any kills they make to their tendril.

4.2.2: Refrain from destroying necropolis tendrils as an ashwalker except in absolute necessity.

Neutral factions

4.3.1: Podpeople, Free Golems, Vets & Beach bums are non-antagonists, with all the restrictions that apply. They are allowed to defend themselves with lethal force if assaulted.

4.4.1: Prisoners are allowed to kill in relation to their crime. Someone convicted of embezzlement is unlikely to murder all of the station for laughs, but holding someone hostage is allowed. Security and heads of staff are valid kills as per standard.

4.5.1: Hermits are allowed to steal with impunity, but are otherwise non-antagonists, with all the restrictions that apply.

4.5.2: Hermits have different introductions when they are chosen and thus different goals in their lifetime. One hermit might want to flee back to the station and civilization, while the other one might want to stay as far away from NT as possible; try to play in accordance with your introduction.

Wizard Academy Defender

4.5.3: Wizard Academy Defenders are to stay on the Academy, as they defend the Academy. The advice on the role is that you should pick it if you really don't have anything useful to do, but to play alone in the Academy.

Additional guidelines

Please participate in votes. Feedback is always appreciated.
Set your preferences to roles you intend to play. Nobody likes suiciding crew members.
If you have a question, check the wiki. If that did not help, use adminhelp.
·      Do not complain about lag. If lag happens, everyone already knows.
